Charles Carroll IV, MD is committed to excellence by pledging to provide transparency and privacy and the highest quality of Hand and Orthopedic care possible. We are a small and private office that is scheduling to minimize risks of spread of respiratory illness and COVID-19. We are not involved with the insurance paradigm as we have cash based pricing and do not have the problems related to insurance submission at the time of service. We can provide reimbursement information to patients at the visit. We do not participate in and have opted out of government based programs.
Dr. Carroll specializes in Hand and Upper Extremity Orthopedic Surgery, including revision procedures and other complex cases. He also has extensive experience in General Orthopedic Surgery, Sports Medicine and Equine Related injuries and Rehabilitation. Dr. Carroll has trained under world-renowned experts in Hand and Orthopedic Surgery, and brings this level of care to his patients in Middleburg, Virginia. Dr. Carroll and his staff will work together to support you throughout your treatment journey, using proven treatment protocols to ensure the best possible outcomes.
In the face of the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, our office will strive to schedule appointments to have one patient in the office at a time for privacy and to promote public heath. We will maintain a clean environment to mitigate the spread of a respiratory illness. We are completing our fourth year in the present location and are looking forward to a fifth year in 2024.
He formerly practiced for 31 years at Northwestern University in Chicago and maintained an academic appointment as an Associate Professor of Clinical Orthopedic Surgery. He is the Coordinator for Ethics in Clinical Practice for the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. He continues as an oral examiner for the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He is Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery with the Certificate of Added Qualification in Hand Surgery through 2030 by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He is active in the Maintenance of Certification process with the ABOS.
Throughout his career, Dr. Carroll has received recognition for clinical excellence from multiple sites. He has consistently been named a Top Doctor from Castle Connolly in New York, New York. He has received this honor for over 15 years while he practiced at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. He has received recognition for excellence from Vitals for clinical care, compassion and being on time. He has been featured as a Top Doctor in Chicago Magazine from 2000 to 2019. He has been named in US News and World Reports as a top physician and has been recognized by other agencies for his clinical care during his 31 years in Chicago. He has continued the same level of care, compassion and expertise in his new location in Middleburg, Virginia. He continues as a Top Physcian through 2023 with Castle Connolly and was named in the 2023 Top Physician feature in Northern Virginia in the Northern Viginia Magazine.
He is providing surgical care at the UVA Community Hospital and Haymarket Surgry Center in Haymarket, Virginia at the intersection of the US Routes 66 and 15. We can assist in housing nearby if you are traveling to see Dr. Carroll through Bean Cottages, LLC in Upperville, Virginia which is in close proximity to the office and hospital. It can be easily reached from Washington, DC, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Dulles (IAD) airport and Reagan (DCA) airport.
He has partnered with Geraldine (Bean) Carroll to manage a contemporary and efficient contemporary office. The team will work with our patients to provide a friendly and warm office setting and highly competent relevant Orthopedic and Hand Surgery related care. We will work with the patients, referring physicians and therapy team members to get you back to where you want to be following an injury or other degenerative condition. Surgical care will not be our only option.
We are excited to continue in the beautiful rural location in Northern Virginia. We are actively involved in outdoor farm activities, gardening, fly fishing and equine related activities. We are active in personal health and fitness in the Middleburg area.
